Luxurious Adult Ultra Pool Planned For MGM Grand Las Vegas

Saturday 2nd February 2008 - 2:47:04 PM

Does lounging in a saltwater dipping pool, indulging in frozen grapes while listening to a DJ spin records and getting every whim attended to by an attentive and attractive staff sound good to you?

If so, the MGM Grand is building an adults only “Ultra Pool” that you will love. It seems that this has been the trend in Las Vegas for the last few years, with Bare at Mirage opening in 2006 and then Venus Pool at Caesars Palace and Tao Beach at The Venetian opening up last year.

This is the description of the area that MGM Grand has of the new luxury pool:

MGM Grand offers the ultimate convergence of excitement and indulgence in Las Vegas’ exclusive and contemporary Ultra Pool experience. Uniquely extending the energy and vibrancy of Las Vegas’ hottest nightlife to a daytime setting, the Ultra Pool provides a must-do experience for trendsetters living life just ahead of the curve. Nationally renowned DJs set the mood by infusing the vibe of a high-end nightlife atmosphere.

Beginning with the moment of check-in, the Ultra Pool’s attractive and highly attentive staff is consistently within reach, mixing with visitors and attending to every whim. Satiate your appetite with freshly prepared offerings crafted by one of MGM Grand’s celebrated culinary artists or keep it simple with frozen grapes served poolside. Rounding out the day club atmosphere is a full-service bar, offering exotic signature cocktails and premium bottle service.

Among the Ultra Pool’s sixteen cabanas are six Super Cabanas, offering a distinctive entertainment experience. Featuring HD plasma screen TVs, an XBox 360, these Cabanas offer wifi access, a custom stocked mini fridge, and chilled luxury terry cloth towels. Comfortable oversized teakwood chaises and plush daybeds for two offer sun worshippers the opportunity to practice their craft in style. When the heat and energy of the Ultra Pool begin to elevate, two large saltwater dipping pools offer a cool respite, with deluxe water chaises that take sunbathing to a new level of comfort and relaxation.

They are trying to pick a name for the area right now, the three choices are “Deep The Ultra Pool at MGM Grand”, “Salt The Ultra Pool at MGM Grand” and “Wet Republic The Ultra Pool at MGM Grand”. What is your favorite?

Pool Plans Change for Wynn’s Encore

Tuesday 12th December 2006 - 3:54:42 PM

Steve Wynn is building a second tower next to Wynn Las Vegas called Encore. The plans for the pool originally had an indoor pool area covered with a retractable glass roof, but it looks like those plans have changed and the pool area will be open to the sky. Apparently, Steve Wynn wanted to make sure people always felt like they were outside, and the glass roof prevented that. They will instead have heaters during cold weather and misters when it’s hot. He does plan on putting a giant water attraction there, but details have not been released yet.

Encore is set to open in late 2008.

Billion Dollar Resort and Mega Water Park Planned for Las Vegas

Friday 1st December 2006 - 2:06:50 AM

Las Vegas Wet ResortAre you looking for more thrills than the typical Las Vegas hotel pool can provide? Are there not enough wave pools and water slides at your favorite Vegas pool? The action you are looking for may be coming to Las Vegas in a few years.

A new 1.1 billion dollar project called Las Vegas Wet is under development. The developers have a 100 acre parcel of land on Las Vegas Boulevard, south of the airport. The plans include multiple themed “Lands”, each of which will be filled with pools, hot tubs, slides, rock climbing, water falls, fountains and other fun features. One of them will be a 21-and-over only area featuring European sunbathing, swim up gaming tables, a “Social Spa” with group mud baths, hydrating rooms, and other body treatments and body painting. There will also be two 600 room hotels, an entertainment complex, a multiplex theater, a concert venue, stores and restaurants. Also included will be a indoor ski park. That’s right, you will be able to ski and snowboard right in the middle of Las Vegas. What will they come up with next?

Pools at Las Vegas hotels have become more extravagant recently, but this one raises the bar quite a bit. They hope to open the resort late 2008 or early 2009. I will keep you posted as I hear more about this water park/resort.
